Cheap website vs affordable web design
Why a £99 template and a £15k agency quote are both the wrong frame, and how UK businesses should buy design they can actually use.
Cheap is a look
Stock photos of headsets, a navy-and-orange palette, and a slider that nobody clicks. Visitors may not know why they do not trust it. They still leave.
Affordable means the price fits a local business and the result still looks intentional. Type, spacing and a few real photographs do more than a pack of 40 plugins.
Templates are not free
You pay with time, monthly fees, and the same layout as a competitor. If you enjoy tinkering, a builder can be fine. If you want the phone to ring, paying someone to finish it is usually cheaper than evenings spent fighting columns.
What we refuse to do
We will not sell you six location pages with the city name swapped. Google is not stupid, and neither are your customers. We would rather ship fewer pages with something true in them.
Questions
Can you start from a template and make it look expensive?
Sometimes, if the template is close. Often it is faster and cleaner to design the pages you need than to fight a theme.
